MARRONS GLACES
D'AUBENAS started just before the First World War when Gustave Imbert joined
his forces with a pastry-maker in Aubenas called Contassot.
Together,
they decided to make marron confit and thus marron glacé. In 1920,
just after the war, the MARRONS GLACES D'AUBENAS company was officially
founded.
Very soon, Gustave IMBERT bought out the
shares of his partner, and the company became known as MARRONS-IMBERT.
In the twenties, the company was already making marrons glacés of course
but also chestnut based products such as chestnut spread.
In 1950, at the death of Gustave IMBERT, Maurice, his son, took over the company.
His perfectionism drove the company through the second half of the twentieth
century while upholding traditional production methods.
Since 1998, Stéphanie NOGIER-IMBERT, the great-granddaughter of the
founder, Gustave, the 4th generation, manages the company with her husband, Alexandre
NOGIER.
Our company prides itself on using exclusively fresh fruit for the production
of its chestnut preserves or marrons glacés. It is the only
company in this field to work in this way and refuses to use frozen peeled chestnuts.
The production campaign therefore runs from mid-October to the end of March.
Today, approximately 350 to 400 tonnes of chestnuts and marrons are used
in the production of chestnut paste, chestnut purée, chestnut spread, Marrons
glacés.
